Ferns have extremely thin roots and like small spaces to crawl through and they thrive in nutrient rich, moist soil. We use coco coir for water retention, worm castings for nutrient density, and sand to enhance drainage and create the small pockets of aeration ferns love. We top it off with some perlite for extra anti-compaction, activated charcoal to combat root rot and increase nutrient retention, and a blend of mycorrhizae to enrich the mix with good fungi and microbial life.
